Photographing Memories

29 Jul

For my birthday this year I have ordered myself a new snazzy piece of kit for my camera (yes I know my birthday isn’t until the middle of August but I get impatient. Okay?!). I’ll post more about it when it actually arrives next week.

Anyway, it’s got me thinking a lot about my photography and I’ve spent a nice hour or so looking through all my old albums over the last couple of days.

I just love photography. I love the buzz of spotting something that you know will just make the perfect shot, especially when it’s in the natural world.

But the thing I love the most is the fact that a single photograph has the ability to bring memories tumbling back, triggering smiles, giggles and tears.
I think that’s why I don’t spend ages in the post production stages of my photos. Although I know full well that they could be greatly improved with a little bit of photo-shopping (and it’s something I’m currently researching), I don’t really take photographs to get ‘the perfect image’. I would rather be spending my time out making the memories and taking the photos, than being in front of a computer editing them!

I’m so glad that I have been able to capture some great memories on film recently and so I thought that during the next week  I would do a series of posts including some of my favourite photographic memories. Some I will have blogged about before, others I won’t have done.

So, make sure you check back during the next week – let’s share some memories.
